READ AND REFLECT IN PRAYER
Read and reflect in prayer
No form of external distraction can suppress prayer in him / her who wishes to pray, because the secret thought of man is not subject to any outward obligation and is absolutely free in itself. It can be controlled at all times and directed to prayer “No matter where you find yourself, you can erect an altar to God in your heart by means of prayer” says John Chrysostom. ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ 8th commandment requires everything we say and do must be true but I am not required to say everything I know. ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ When others complained about the state of affairs in society and in the church, St Peter of Alcantar would reply : “The remedy is simple. You and I must first be what we ought to be; then we shall have cured what concerns ourselves. Let each one do the same, and all will be well. The trouble is that we all talk of reforming others without ever reforming ourselves. ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ Church is holy, does it mean, you are holy, fallicy is division. ex: society is all over the world. So the sun never sets on society. Does it mean that the sun never sets for you? Fifth words. Do not kill. ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ Man has a noble, very sensitive life, and has a hidden ‘I’ no less important than his physical being. Indeed, an inopportune phrase is enough to offend the innocence of a child. A cold gesture can suffice to wound a woman. To break a young present heart. It suffices to rebuff his confidence. To annihilate a man, it suffices to ignore him. Indifference Kills. It is like telling the other person: “you are dead to me” because you have killed him in your heart. Not loving is the first step to killing; and not killing is the first step to loving. Are we our brothers' keepers? Yes, we are! We are each other's keepers! And this is the path to life; it is the path of not killing. Human life needs love. ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ No one can delude him or herself. I am fine because I do nothing wrong. A mineral or plant has this type of existence, however man does not. A person - man or woman does not. More is asked of a man or woman. There is good to be done, prepared for each of us, each is or her own, which makes us ourselves at the core. You shall not kill us with an appeal to love and mercy. It is a call to live according to the Lord Jesus, who gave his life for us and rose for us. It is good to do no wrong, but it is wrong to do no good, we must always do good. Pope Francis ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ Gaze no longer upon your wounds, gaze on his wounds, He takes hold of you, in his wounds. He hides you. Do not refuse his love. Pope Benedict XVI ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ Rain is wet because it is raining… Church is holy because Christ is holy… holiness of the Church is simply the holiness of Christ. It is his church, made by him as the bearer of holiness to men. Every member, in contact with him, has available to him / her a fount of holiness; there is no limit save our own will to receive what he has to give. For the church there is no growth and, of course, no diminishing. If everyone of her members were in a state of grace at a given moment, the church’s holiness would be no greater, if we were all in mortal sin together, it would be no less. In other words the holiness of the church is not the sum total of the holiness of all her members, any more than the wetness of rain is not measured by the wetness of all those have ventured out in it. If the whole population goes out and gets drenched, the rain is no wetter; if everyone stays indoors, the rain is no less wet. Rain is wet because it is rain, whether or not men expose themselves to it. The church is holy because it is Christ living on in the world. It is the cause of the holiness of its members, but is not measured by their response. We cannot be reconciled with God and be intimate with him if we will not first return to ourselves and enter into the depths of ourselves. Only the interior life is a truly Christian life. The ladder leading into the kingdom of heaven is hidden within you, in your he art. And so purify yourself from sin and enter your heart; there you will find the rungs of the ladder by which you can climb to the heights. As a doctor finds the right medicine or a bandage for a wound and these help though the sick man does not know, the same is true with God, for when he is called upon, he annihilates all passions though we do not know how. The stronger and deeper is our faith in Jesus, the Incarnate Word, the Son of God, the nearer we approach Christ. St. Augustine ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ Our lady was not virginally conceived; she had a father and mother. Mary was conceived Immaculate (Immaculate Conception). It means that her son’s care for her and gifts to her began from the first moment of her existence. From the very first moment of her soul’s creation, it had, by God’s gift, not natural life only but supernatural life. What this means quite simply is that she whom God close to be his Mother never existed for an instant without sanctifying grace in her soul. In these stages the word “form”, with the different meanings indicated by the different prefixes, has the significance of allowing oneself to be formed by God, as with the beginning he did with Adam. The spiritual exercices, in fact are precisely this disposing the soul to rid itself of all the disordered tendencies, and after it is rid, to seek and find the Divine will as to the management of one’s life for the salvation of the soul. But the vision of God is a goal beyond the natural power of any creature. No human mind is naturally capable of seeing God. Man cannot see God by his own natural power. If man is to see God, he must be raised to a level of existence and action that is superhuman, that is divine. This is precisely what God has done for man. through the gift of grace God gives to man the power to see God. Through grace God makes it possible for human acts to lead to the vision of himself. ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ You know that in Christ, the soul created like ours was not however subject to the progressive development of the corporal organism for the exercise of the faculties proper to it, intelligence and will; his soul had, from the first moment of its existence, the perfection of its own life, as befitted a soul united to the Divinity. Now St. Paul reveals to us the first movement of the soul of Jesus at the instant of his incarnation. In one and the same glance, it beholds the ages past, the abyss wherein humanity lies powerless to liberate itself, the multiplicity and fundamental insufficiency of all the sacrifices of the Old Law; for no creature however perfect can worthily repair the injury committed by sin against the creator. Christ beholds the programme of immolation that God demands of him in order to work out the world’s salvation. What a solemn moment for the soul of Jesus! What a moment two for human grace. ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ When I look at the cross and Tabernacle, I see the power of glory of my God. How, with what power. He hides his glory, is it not a lesson of humility for me. To show the glory, one needs no power, it is so natural, but to hide the glory, which is supernatural, needs great strength of grace. Jesus, teach me this great secret of your wisdom and lead me deep into it. ☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀☀ A reflection on James: 3: 1-10 Who can tame the tongue?
